Nuclear Proximity / Limit Switch Range - High Radiation / Vibration / Seismic / High Temperature Resistant

The FS-B-D Series Nuclear Qualified Limit Switches (Metric Thread) are built on the very dependable FerroProx technology platform and are specifically designed to withstand the high temperature, pressure, vibration and radiation extremes found in the nuclear industry. With versions offered at three qualification levels, Mild (MR), Harsh (HR) and Containment (CR) there is a solution to provide precise position monitoring at any requirement level. Models suitable for K1 , K2 and K3 environments, and Harsh Environment Proximity Switch with Accident Conditions (LOCA/HELB). Radiation aged to >1MRad (1000kGy), and high-temperature models with operational temperature of 204°C / 400°F and ability to resistant excursion peaks to 260°C /500F).

The FerroProx technology utilises magnetic technology but critically contains no electronics and does not require power to operate. Hence all models are EMC and RFI immune and are capable of switching AC or DC voltages from 6V up to 240V. Available with Either SPDT or DPDT contact forms, the high quality silver-palladium (with gold) contacts are seismic and vibration resilient with solid contact pressure to prevent chatter.

They are manufactured with a Stainless steel 316L housing, and either terminated in various radiation and temperature resilient cable/lead wire types, qualified QDC connectors (EGS, Souriau, Mirion), or with one of four wireable head options (W, WL, WLR, WLRT). Euroswitch wireable proximity switches alleviate add on components and allow compact installation where space is at a premium.
Fully submersible and pressure rated switch versions are available for fuel transfer and control rods handling.. These are available with multiple options of dry mateable or wet mateable subsea connectors or with over-moulded integral cable.

The FS-B-D series proximity switches meet the requirements of IEC 61508:2010 Routes 1H & 1S with Systematic Capability (SC3) as an element/subsystem, and are suitable for use in safety related systems performing safety functions up to SIL 3 with HFT =1 (1oo2).

Typical applications include monitoring position of motorised Valves, cylinder Extension/ Retraction, Airlocks and Hatches, Cranes and Lifts, Direct Damper Position Indication, Containment Door Position Indication, Refuelling and transfer machines allowing valves to be immersed during LOCA.

The FS-B-D series is also available with hazardous area ATEX IECEx Ex d and Ex ia certification for use in Zones 1 / 21 and 0 / 20..
