Hazardous Area and Harsh Environment Mechanical Plunger Limit Switch Range

The FS-B-D Series Mechanical Limit Switch (Metric Thread) are built on the very dependable FerroProx technology platform. They are designed to work reliably in very arduous and harsh conditions, including Explosion Proof Ex d and UL/CSA Class I Div 1 areas, where detection of a target via a mechanical plunger is required. In presence of the target, the plunger assembly magnetically activates the mechanical switch which is housed within a completely separate chamber. The limit switch has volt free, silver-palladium contacts, and is capable of switching AC or DC voltages from 6V up to 240V, and is reliable through millions of operations. Available in either SPCO/SPDT (Form C) or DPCO/DPDT (2 x Form C) contact forms.

The actuating force, travel and plunger geometry can be customised to suit particular applications. Fully submersible and pressure rated mechanical limit switch versions are available for use as hatch door detection on amphibious vehicles, valve position sensing, ROV docking, reverse safety alarm and battery interlock. These are available with multiple options of dry mateable or wet mateable subsea connectors or with over-moulded integral cable.

They are manufactured with a Stainless steel 316L housing, and either terminated in various cable/lead wire types, QDC connectors (M12 microchange, 7/8" minichange),  or with one of four wireable head options (W, WL, WLR, WLRT). Euroswitch wireable proximity switches alleviate add on components and allow compact installation where space is at a premium.

The FS-B-D series limit switches meet the requirements of IEC 61508:2010 Routes 1H & 1S with Systematic Capability (SC3) as an element/subsystem, and are suitable for use in safety related systems performing safety functions up to and including SIL 2 with HFT=0 (1oo1) and SIL 3 with HFT =1 (1oo2).
